Knútur Óskarsson, viðskiptafræðingur, er ræðismaður fyrir Nepal á Íslandi.
Verkefni ræðismanns eru margs konar, en fyrst og fremst að gæta hagsmuna Nepalskra stjórnvalda á Íslandi m.a. með upplýsingagjöf og vinnu að ýmsum hagsmunamálum, sem tengjast báðum löndunum. Auk þessa mun ræðisskrifstofan gefa út ferðamannaáritanir– VISA – í vegabréf fyrir hönd Sendiráðs Nepals í Kaupmannahöfn frá og með 1. janúar 2020.

Í því felst útgáfa á eftirfarandi:
Visa með gildistíma í 15 daga; kostnaður USD 30 eða jafngildi í ISK – sjá upphæð neðst á „Tourist Visa Application Form“, þegar búið er að fylla út umsókn á netinu.
Visa með gildistíma í 30 daga; kostnaður USD 50 eða jafngildi í ISK – sjá upphæð neðst á „Tourist Visa Application Form“, þegar búið er að fylla út umsókn á  netinu.
Visa með gildistíma í 90 daga; kostnaður USD 125 eða jafngildi í ISK – sjá upphæð neðst á „Tourist Visa Application Form“, þegar búið er að fylla út umsókn á netinu.Heimilt er að fá Visa samtals í 150 daga á almanaksári (janúar –  desember).

Fylla þarf út Online Visa Application með því að fara inn á https://nepaliport.immigration.gov.np/onlinevisa-mission/application

Þar þarf byrja á að velja í “Select Embassy / Consulate / Mission”: Honorary Consuls of Nepal, Iceland…og fylla síðan út viðeigandi reiti. Gildistími vegabréfs þarf að vera lengri en 6 mánuðir, þegar komið er til Nepals.

Greiðsla vegna vegabréfsáritunar þarf að inna af hendi fyrirfram inn á reikning í Íslandsbanka: 0513 – 26 – 255, Kt.: 230252-3009

New Arrangements for the Issuance of Visa

The following arrangements have been made for the Issuance of Visa in reference to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Visa-on-arrival, with some exceptions, has been suspended until further notice.

Therefore, all persons, except those mentioned below, visiting Nepal must obtain visa before they travel to Nepal.

i. Travelling to Nepal

However, if such report with photograph is not available/issued in the country of departure, the travelers can contact to the Embassy for the travel.

Otherwise, if any of the COVID-19 symptom is found, they will be sent to the isolation center or to the Hospital.

c. The travelers who remain in hotel quarantine should make test on the 7th day of the quarantine, and if found negative, will be able to travel to their destination provided they remain another 4 days of home quarantine.

d. Travelers entering Nepal shall submit the following documents at the corresponding immigration point:

+ PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) tests report of corona within the last 72 hours showing COVID negative result (except below 5 years of age).

+ Visa or prior approval/recommendation documents obtained for coming to Nepal.

+ Documents of hotel booking in Nepal to stay at least seven days in quarantine, with some exceptions.

+ Insurance documents relating to COVID-19 amounting at least 5,000.00 USD (traveling for leisure trip only)

ii. Travelers with full doze of vaccination.

Passengers having Certificate of full doze vaccination and COVID-19 negative test report will be allowed to travel to their destination in Nepal where they have to remain in self quarantine for 10 days.

iii. Traveling through land route.

Traveling through land route to Nepal, for the foreigners, has been temporarily suspended.

iv. Travelling for essential propose

Diplomats and their family members, staffs working in UN agencies, International Organizations and International Non-Governmental Organizations in Nepal and their family members may go for quarantine recommended by the respective diplomatic mission or international organization through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal for the period of 10 days before they can involve to their regular activities.

The travelers can coordinate with their respective mission to obtain visa-on-arrival at the airport or can apply to the Embassy for the visa.

v. Tourists

1. People traveling for pleasure trip require to obtain a Nepali visa prior to entering Nepal or pre-approval for the visa. Followings are the conditions for pre-approval:

+ if visa for Nepal is not available in the respective country or the tourists are travelling in groups, they can go to Nepal by obtaining prior approval. Prior approval can be obtained in coordination with the travel or trekking agency based in Nepal. The visitor can contact to any travel or trekking agency and the agency should make necessary request to the concerned agency in Nepal for obtaining approval of on-arrival-visa. Once the approval is received, the visitors can travel to Nepal and get visa-on-arrival.

+ Similarly, if a person is traveling for medical treatment and is willing to get visa-on-arrival, s/he should contact to the concerned medical agency of Nepal for obtaining pre-approval for visa-on-arrival. Once the approval is obtained s/he will be eligible for visa-on-arrival.

+ For those who are travelling by air can obtain visa-on-arrival with the recommendation letter from the Department of Tourism or Nepal Tourism Board stating tourism activities to be done by the traveler.

2. Tourists coming to Nepal with the recommendation as per article 1 shall be issued a visa by the Department of Immigration at the Tribhuvan International Airport immigration.

3. The tourist shall sign a document at the immigration point making commitment to follow the health protocol made by the Government of Nepal.

4. All the health-related protocols approved by the Ministry of Health and Population of Nepal must be complied with during their stay in Nepal.

5. Other conditions and arrangements to be followed by the tourists will be as specified by the Department of Tourism by publishing notices from time to time.

Person of Nepali Origin (NRN) and their family members

1. Persons of Nepali origin (NRN) and their family members (spouse and children) are eligible for visa-on-arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu. However, they may also take visa from the Embassy.

2. If such persons are applying to the Embassy they have to submit evidence of being person of Nepali Origin.

3. Person holding NRN card issued by the Embassy or by the Government of Nepal will not need visa till the validity of NRN Identity Card.

4. NRN travelling to Nepal shall have the following documents:

a. PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) tests report of corona within the last 72 hours showing COVID negative or certificate of full dose vaccination.

What are the regulations for the travelers?

1. Passengers travelling to Nepal must have PCR test certificate showing negative result results and taken not earlier than 72 hours before their boarding or the certificate of full dose of vaccination.

2. Passengers travelling as tourists should have insurance document relating to COVID-19 amounting at least 5,000.00 USD (health insurance covering COVID-19).

3. All passengers should observe quarantine rules issued by the Government from time to time.

4. Tourists can stay in hotel quarantine while other persons who are residing in Nepal can go to home quarantine.

Íslendingar á ferð í Nepal

Heill og sæll Knútur …

Mikið er frábært að heyra það … ég deili algjörlega tilfinningum þínum fyrir þessu ótrúlega fallega og frábæra landi, Nepal og á þar marga góða og trausta vini… vini sem ég treysti algjörlega fyrir lífi mínu þarna í fjöllunum fögru.
Ég hef farið fjórar ferðir alls til Nepal og er alls ekki búinn að fá nóg.
Fór þrjár upp í grunnbúðir Everest og þar af tvær í gegnum Gokyo vötnin sem eru algjörlega einstakt svæði.
Fjórðu ferðina fór ég svo með Rótarý félagana 2019 á Poon Hill og upp í grunnbúðir Anna Purna.
Ég á náttúrulega gríðarlegt myndasafn úr þessum ferðum öllum og get svo sent þér eitthvað til viðbótar…
Get einnig örugglega útvegað þér einhverjar sögur úr ferðunum enda gengið á ýmsu.
Endilega vertu í sambandi ef það er eitthvað sem ég get aðstoðað þig með… en ég var að adda þér sem friend á Facebook.

Árið 2016 fór ég með konuna og krakkana mína tvo, Ívar þá 23 ára og Hjördísi 32 ára upp í grunnbúðir Everest.

      

2017 fórum við strákurinn minn með 16 vinnufélaga okkar hjá 365 og fórum þá gegnum Gokyo og upp í grunnbúðir Everest:

2019 fórum við svo þrír rótarýfélagar í Hofi ásamt mökum og vinafólki, alls 12 manna hópur upp í grunnbúðir Anna Purna:
